Crowning 2018... We are leaving the year behind. As we say goodbye to 2018, we are more than happy to being able to set higher standards and receiving positive feedback from our readers. We have edited the last issue of the year with a great enthusiasm and joy thanks to this pleasing interest. In- deed, we feel the tiredness of the whole year however we are crowning 2018 with another well-prepared issue that contains important news, special stories and interviews. Visiting the city of Konya, one of the Turkish cities playing a pivotal role for milling technologies, has been on our agenda for a long period of time. At the end, we realized this plan in November. We held meet- ings with representatives of the industry for two days. We visited six factories there, in order to witness production processes of rollers mills, processing the wheat into flour to be used in our basic food, the bread, as well as other products. We drew information from milling experts about how simple metal sheets transformed into modern mills gradually. You will get the lowdown about our impressions on Konya in the coming pages. But we can say in advance that it was a unique experience for us. We are grateful to the stakeholders of the milling industry for their legendary hospitality which is also a tradition of Konya. We will con- tinue to visit different cities and and host them in the pages of the Miller Magazine. We have also a very interesting interview with Arkadiy Gurevich, the president of the Russian Union of Flour Millers. Gurevich underlines that, unlike Turkey, flour exports are not encouraged by the government in Russia although Russian millers have the capacity in terms of raw mate- rials and production. Gurevich says that Russian millers can easily com- pete in international flour market if government supports them.
