44 NEWS MILLER / MAY 2020 Kazakhstan increases wheat, flour export quotas for May Russian Grain Union opens registration for the XXI International Grain Round Kazakhstan increased its wheat export quota for May to 250,000 tonnes, from 200,000 tonnes in April, and more than doubled the quota for wheat flour to 150,000 tonnes, Deputy Agriculture Minister Aidark- han Saparov said. In April, Kazakhstan had initially established an export ban on wheat flour but quickly canceled the ban and imposed a monthly export quota to ensure there are sufficient grain stocks to tide it over during a period of coronavirus-related emergency. Saparov also told a briefing that the Central Asi- an nation may abolish the quotas in June. He said Kazakhstan planned to harvest at least as much gra- in this year as it did in 2019. Kazakhstan is a major supplier to the region, particularly to Uzbekistan, Afg- hanistan, and Tajikistan, which rely heavily on Kazakh wheat and wheat flour. The registration for the XXI International Grain Round “Grain Market- yesterday, today, tomorrow” Septem- ber 22-25, 2020 (Gelendzhik, Russia) has been started, the Russian Grain Union announced. In the framework of the XXI International Grain Round «Grain market – yesterday, today, tomorrow» there will be considered modern problems of state regulation of the grain market functioning, future development of the agroindustrial complex in new economic conditions, forecasts of production, price development and condi- tions on the grain market, the use of new production technologies, grain processing and storage, transport development and financial infrastructure. More than 1200 representatives from more than 30 countries are expected to take part in the event this year. Among participants there are leaders of grain se- ctor, heads of operator-companies of the grain market, transport companies, organizations which are respon- sible for infrastructure in this sector as well as the lea- ding manufacturers from more than 40 federal subjects of the Russian Federation. “Along with the highly to- pical conference program, participants will be offered the best conditions for business meetings, negotiations with partners, company presentations.” Russian Grain Union said.
