30 NEWS MILLER / JULY 2020 COFCO International appoints Zhaohui Da as CFO G3 celebrates opening of two elevators in Alberta COFCO International has appointed Zhaohui (Ch- risty) Da as CFO of the company effective immedia- tely. Ms Da, who will be based at the company’s hea- dquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, served as COFCO International Board Director since July 2017 until June 2020. She joins COFCO International as CFO from COF- CO Corporation, the company’s main shareholder, where her most recent position was Chief Audit Officer COFCO Group. Ms Da joined COFCO Corpo- ration in 1994 and has since held various finance leadership roles across COFCO Group companies in China. She previously served as Director of the Board of COFCO Capital and COFCO Biochemical. “Christy has strong financial expertise with over 25 years of experience from leading the financial, audit and risk organisations at COFCO Group and its agri-bu- sinesses in China,” said David Dong, CEO of COFCO International. “She will be instrumental in achieving our development objectives and furthering coopera- tion between the Group’s Chinese and international businesses.” Ms Da holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Capital University of Economics and Business in Beijing. She is a People's Republic of China Certified Public Ac- countant. She succeeds Jing Wu who has decided to leave the company in September, following a transition period. Canadian grain export company G3 announced the official opening of two state-of-the art export facility in Alberta. G3 Morinville and G3 Carmangay feature the same high-efficiency infrastructure as G3’s other new elevators in Western Canada. Trucks unload in minutes and trains of up to 150 cars are quickly loaded on loop tracks, keeping grain moving to port. “Due to Covid-19, we are setting aside our usual plans for grand opening events at the new sites. We will miss the opportunity to celebrate with our custo- mers, neighbours and other guests but ensuring health and safety is of prime importance. Staff are working with physical distancing and hygiene measures in pla- ce.” Canadian company said. The new facilities ship grain to G3 Terminal Vancou- ver, a next-generation grain export terminal opening this summer. Its loop tracks and ship loading systems are setting new standards for quickly receiving and shipping grain. “These state-of-the-art facilities are transforming the way grain moves across Canada,” says G3 CEO Don Chapman. “Our loop-to-loop system connects Prairie to port in a way that ensures high quality Canadian grain gets to market on time, which ultimately benefits Canadian farmers.” Four more G3 elevators are under construction in Al- berta: G3 Wetaskiwin and G3 Stettler County will open later this summer; G3 Vermilion and G3 Irricana in 2021.
