42 NEWS MILLER / JULY 2020 United Grain in Vancouver halts operations after staffers test positive for the coronavirus Vortex appoints exclusive dealer for South Korea Vancouver-based United Grain has suspended operati- ons at its grain export terminal at the Port of Vancouver, in southwest Washington, after two of its on-site staff tested positive for COVID-19, the company announced. United Grain operates the largest grain elevator on the West Coast, with more than 200 grain silos occup- ying much of the east end of the port. The terminal transfers grain from rail cars and river barges to ships bound for international destinations. The company learned of one positive COVID-19 test result among its staff, according to public relations ma- nager Stephanie McClintock. Company officials sought guidance from Clark County Public Health and began working to identify other employees that could have been exposed to the disease caused by the novel co- ronavirus. Vortex Global, a solids and bulk handling compo- nents company, announced the appointment of TSP (Total Solution Provider) Korea as its new representa- tive exclusive to South Korea. With this appointment, TSP Korea will be responsible for creating customer re- lationships, arranging site visits, and following up on Vortex customer inquiries received in South Korea. TSP Korea was established in 1999 and known as HAN Corporation until 2013. The company is based in the Seongdong District of South Korea’s capital city of Seoul. TSP Korea has an extensive background in food & beverage, pet food, animal feed and chemical related machinery. Its primary function is to ensure that the end user’s preferences are met and to assist with the implementation of machinery and systems. “The Vortex team looks forward to working with TSP Korea in the South Korean market,” explained Laurence Millington, managing director at Vortex Global. “We are excited about the opportunity to provide South Korea with solutions for their dry bulk handling needs.” With the addition of Vortex Global’s portfolio, TSP Korea can now offer its clients slide gates, diverter valves and loading spouts for handling dry bulk solid materials. Mr. BaikSoo Han will be the primary point of contact for Vortex’s South Korean customers.
