34 MILLER / aprıl 2021 NEWS Agricultural commodities trader Bunge has sold its Rostov grain terminal in southern Russia to former top managers of state grain trader United Grain Company, Russian bank Sberbank, which helped to finance the deal. Bunge is the “B” of the so-called ABCDs of global grain trading, which also includes rivals ADM, Cargill and Louis Dreyfus. It has been scaling back its Russian grain trading activities in recent years. Russia’s largest lender Sberbank, which fi- nanced the deal, did not dis- close the transaction price in a statement it released about the sale. The terminal with a nominal annual tran- shipment capacity of 1 million tonnes and storage capac- ity of 42,000 tonnes will be open to all market players, its new owners Marat Shaidayev and Alexei Chemerichko said in the statement. Bunge executive Raul Padilla plans to retire Bunge Limited, a leader in agriculture, food and ingredients, announced that Raul Padilla, Presi- dent, Global Operations, plans to retire effective December 31, 2021. His operational responsibili- ties will be distributed internally over the coming months. Responsibilities for external relationships with- in South America will transition to Julio Garros. He brings 19 years of experience with Bunge in Finance, Commercial and Business Development roles across South America and most recently held the role of Global Transformation Leader for Agribusiness, driving Bunge’s new business ini- tiatives. Raul Padilla, who has served as President, Glob- al Operations since May 2019, boasts over 20 years of service with Bunge. “Raul has helped lead Bunge through years of rapid industry change. Since joining Bunge in 1997 with the Ceval acquisition, his leadership and industry knowledge have been instru- mental in positioning Bunge as the leading global oil- seeds processor, and his legacy will long live on within the company," said Greg Heckman, Bunge CEO. Most recently, Padilla led Bunge through the major reorganization to an agile, global operating model aligned by value chains. "With our operat- ing model well in place, and a talented set of lead- ers responsible for their respective value chains, we continue to expect great things from our agri- cultural business as we work to drive continuous improvement and enhance shareholder value. We welcome Julio to the Executive Leadership Team and thank Raul for his dedicated service to Bunge over the years.
