42 MILLER / july 2021 NEWS Richardson Pioneer Limited, Canada’s largest agribusiness, announces plans to build a new high throughput grain elevator in Carmichael, Saskatchewan, located 65 km west of Swift Current. Construc- tion began in June and is expected to be completed by the fall of 2022. Richardson is committed to providing grower customers with best in class facilities and services. The new elevator will include 46,000 metric tonnes of storage capacity with a loop track rail design capable of loading 175 high cube rail cars. The facility will feature high speed receiving and load out, with a high capacity grain cleaning system. Imme- diately following completion of the new elevator, Richard- son will proceed with the construction of crop inputs assets including a high-speed fertilizer blender with storage and a 10,000-square foot AWSA certified warehouse – both of which will be fully operational by the fall of 2023. “Richardson has maintained a significant presence and loyal customer base in the southwestern part of the prov- ince and will continue to seek opportunities for improving operational efficiencies,” says Tom Hamilton, Senior Vice President of Agribusiness Operations. “With the addition of the new facility at Carmichael, we look to bridge our histor- ical presence in the area with the realities of meeting our grower customers’ evolving business needs. This latest in- vestment underscores Richardson’s ongoing commitment to the Canadian agriculture industry and to providing grow- ers with modern, high-efficiency facilities and services”. Richardson to build new high throughput grain elevator Symaga, a Spanish family-owned business specialized in designing, manufacturing and marketing of galvanized steel silos, starts the production of a brand new membrane sensor. The technical project, carried out after several months of research, has achieved an optimization from previous mem- brane sensors, with an increased cost-competitiveness and safety for the sensor. “The new sensor is designed under norm EN 60079-0, EN 60079-31 and with Directive 2014/34 / EU, that guarantees a safe use in explosive atmospheres that occur inside of the silo due to combustible dust occurrences,” the company said in its press re- lease. “The SY-SM1 sensor is ATEX ZONE 20 certified, the zone with the highest explosion risk, and ATEX Zone 21. To guarantee safety for our team in manufacturing, SYMAGA has assumed the reference standard for the manufacture of ATEX equipment, UNE EN ISO / IEC 80079-34 under its quality system.” One of the main advantages of the new membrane sensor is its integration of a regulation column, which allows for sensi- tivity adjustment. Another advantage is its easy assembly, with the sensor adapting perfectly to the wavy shape of our silos’ body sheets, and it can also be installed in the hopper. “We especially recommend it to detect the minimum level in pow- dery and granular products with easy flow and with a specific weight between 300 and 2500 kg / m³.” Symaga said. The new SY-SM1 membrane sensor is part of the 2020 Product De- velopment Plan, which highlights Symaga's continuous R&D work to improve storage solutions. Symaga designs new membrane sensor
