67 COVER STORY MILLER / OCTOber 2021 man and human-made needs become less. Smart Production and Automation The combination of smart production and automation is very im- portant in the globalizing worldmarket, where increasing research and development studies and technology-oriented competition are rapidly increasing. For this reason, it is very difficult to be safe, fast and efficient in order to survive in the changing competitive conditions in a market that is constantly growing and the number of actors is increasing. However, it is possible to overcome this challenge in the industrial sector with smart production and au- tomation. In addition to using the existing systems, important steps can be taken in order for the companies to follow continuous develop- ment and to have a voice in the market. Smart production and au- tomation systems followed by our company reveal important tech- nologies and plans in this regard. Existing systems, which have come across us in a very advantageous way, provide privileges to companies that want to have a say in the global arena. It is very important touse timeandmoneyefficiently and tomake the best use of technology. However, it is of great importance for companies to evaluate their existing technologies in terms of their development. For this reason, smart production and automation emerge as a method that has paved the way for companies. Smart Production andMilling Intelligent production is possible to the extent that the technical infrastructure that can collect and analyze data and use it for con- trol can be established in the enterprises in the grain industry. In short, the machines or process components, which are the main elements of production, fedwith data and attention should be paid to the inter-system communication that forms the basis of smart production. When the smart production technology in the milling sector is examined, some main lines stand out. When considering the sys- tem in outline; storage, product receiving and cleaning, tempering, grinding, product storage and packaging are the main parts of the system. These parts have many control and databases such as machine, motor, sensor, and mechanical, pneumatic, electronic. The data received from the sensors is transmitted to a central management system and if the necessary improvements can be made in the system with the feedback from there, it means that the automation system is provided. Considering that this process is provided for all departments in the factory or facility and there is data transfer between the departments, we can accept that smart production is possible for the mill industry. However, there are a few factors that need to be considered in the smart production system to be established. These; dust, vibra- tion, static and system harmonics. This and similar factors in the mills; it can cause negative reasons such as explosion, breaking of the communication system, wrong process control. This is the biggest obstacle to the creation of a smart production and auto- mation system.
