40 MILLER / MAY 2022 NEWS Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for Fuling Food Industrial Park, a joint venture with Donlink Group and HAID Group in Nansha, Guangzhou, as part of its strategy to grow with the Chinese market. Located in the center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Ma- cao Greater Bay Area, the new food industrial park will be constructed in three phases and represents a total invest- ment of RMB 7 billion (approximately $ 1.1 billion). The first phase, which will cover a 180,000m2 land plot upon com- pletion in 2023, comprises a feed protein mill with daily soybean processing capacity of 6,000 tons, a vegetable oil refining mill with daily production capacity of 1,200 tons, and a packaged cooking oil production line with daily bot- tling capacity of 800 tons.   The project’s first phase will enhance LDC’s feed pro- tein processing capacity in the region and, along with the company’s existing oilseed processing plant in Dongguan, Guangdong, will form an important industrial base for LDC in the Pearl River Delta. With unique geographical advan- tages and convenient traffic within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the new food industrial park will become an important food and agricultural product stor- age and distribution center, helping to ensure efficient sup- ply of high-quality protein products in South China. “The construction of Fuling Food Industrial Park marks another positive step forward in LDC’s strategic plans, and another major milestone in our nearly 50-year jour- ney in China,” said Jerrity Chen, Head of North Asia at LDC. “We see great potential for mutual growth, as we strive to meet the country’s evolving consumption needs and, in particular, growing demand for high quality food.
